We
believe that Our Lady of Guadalupe, who once brought 8 million people
into the living streams of Catholicism, can once again bring light
into our present darkness!
La
Promesa Foundation is a non-profit organization established in May
1996 by a group of lay Catholics. The Foundation chose the name ‘La
Promesa’ because in the beginning, the Incorporators made a promise
in our mission statement, requesting the intercession of Our Lady of
Guadalupe.
In
a covenant of love to our Lord Jesus Christ and Our Lady of Guadalupe
we committed ourselves to:
U
Protect
the sanctity of life from conception until natural death.
U
Carry
out the mission of evangelization as called for by Baptism.
U
To
promote holy vocations to both the lay and ordained states.
In
October 1997 we moved into the newly constructed Guadalupe Resource
Center where our ministry has flourished. We provide at no charge, a
large bilingual library of books, audiotapes, videotapes, CDs and
DVDs for promoting the truths of the
Catholic Faith. The Foundation operates solely on the generosity of
good and faithful people.
In
the almost ten years since our inception, the Foundation has and is,
“Keeping
the Promise”
by sponsoring pro-life events and spiritual pilgrimages. We
continue to bring some of the countries most well-known Catholic
Evangelists and Apologists to
the West Texas area.
For
seven years we have worked in connection with St. David’s Relief
Foundation and the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal to send young
men, who are discerning a religious vocation, on a
work-camp/pilgrimage to Bosnia. To further promote the Catholic faith
we developed an inspirational newsletter that mails to thousands of
people nationwide.
Our
most exciting project of evangelization was started seven years
ago when we began Project Millennium. Our goal was to bring Catholic
Radio to West Texas for our Lord’s Jubilee year 2000... God's plans were a bit broader... We bought our
first radio station KJBC 1150 AM in Midland/Odessa. In
2003 we purchased seven more stations across Texas and New Mexico.
Then in 2004 came KBMD 88.5 FM in
the Marble Falls/Austin area. And most recently we have begun
broadcasting the fullness of the Catholic faith in the DFW area in
English and Spanish on 910 AM and 850 AM respectively. Simultaneously
with our DFW efforts we began broadcasting on 1380 AM in San Antonio
in Spanish and also began a project to acquire and upgrade KWCB 89.7
FM to 100,000 watts of power to broadcast to San Antonio in English.
Our
network of stations air programming from EWTN, Ave Maria, Catholic
Answers and many other Catholic program providers. We currently serve
a population of over 8,000,000 potential listeners. We
have witnessed the Holy Spirit working in great and mighty ways
through the airwaves, reaching souls for our Lord Jesus Christ. Since
the inception of the Guadalupe Radio Network, and the tremendous
effect on the Catholic community, our goal now is to simply grow the
Network.
With
our eyes on Christ, we will continue to move forward to bring the
light of Christ to as many people as possible, for this is the call
that Pope John Paul the Great made to lay Catholics.
